My didi is born

During 37 weeks visit, Dr Ravi said the amniotic fluid covering didi is on the low side and advise mummy to deliver early. That time she was 2 cm dilated. He said by next monday (18/6/12), mummy needs to deliver didi. Due to his full schedules, it was pushed to 15/6/12 which was exactly week 38.

On 15/6/12, mummy and daddy reached Gleneagles at 6.30am as advise by Dr Ravi.  From 6.30- 7.45am, mummy pass motion and wait for Dr Ravi to come. At 7.45 am, Dr Ravi came and inserted a tablet into mummy's uterus to soften her cervix. At 2pm, Dr came again and broke mummy's water bag and that time she was only 2.5 cm dilated.  At 3 something, a drip was given to mummy to induce labour and at 4.30pm mummy was 9 cm dilated.

As the epidural given was not 100% painless, mummy had a very bad pain and have the urge to push baby out. She hang on there as the dr Ravi has yet to arrive and therefore the nurse increase the epidural dosage. Dr Ravi arrived at 5 something and prepare for the delivery. They ask mummy to push whenever she feels the urge but the epidural has kicked in resulting in disappearing of such urge. Anyhow mummy just try. Mummy took a deep breath, hold it and pushed.... the baby came out with just one push at 5.36pm.

Thought everything was ok but the worst nightmare kicked in. Mummy's blood kept flowing out nonstop, she is suffering from Postpartum Hemorrhage. Her BP dropped to less than 90/60. Dr Ravi has to monitor her BP and make sure her fresh blood stop flowing out, some drip was given to her to help increase her BP and a constant monitoring of BP by Dr and nurses. At the end, mummy needs to overnight in the labour room and blood transfusion was required as a result of losing too much blood. Initially 2 bags of blood was given to mummy but Dr Ravi has ordered 4 bags and since the remaining 2 bags can't be used by other therefore he advised mummy to transfuse another 2 bags. There were around 5-6 needle holes on mummy's arms from the drip and blood transfusion. The 1st bag was transfused to mummy without much pain but the 2nd bag onwards, she has been feeling pain as in very thick liquid was forced into her clogged vein. The pain was unbearable by 3rd bag but she still stay on and need to poke in another hole on her arm. By 4th bag, another needle hole poke on mummy arm as the previous hole was too pain. After 3 hrs, not even half a bag was transfuse... mummy can't take it anymore and hope all these can stop. Given another chance, another needle hole was poke in another vein, thank god this round in 1/2 hr the last bag was finally transfused to mummy at around 7 something pm on 16/6/12. With some BP monitor since it has increase to >100/60, she could finally transfer to ward.  Luckily we have Dr Ravi Chandran with us during such complicated delivery, he has been very patience, keep on checking on mummy.... call...came to the labour room at midnight to ensure she is progressing well. He is a very experience gynea who always deals with complication delivery.... can't imagine if having another gynea...
