This is a long overdue post as mummy was too busy with work, kids and have no time to update her blog.
Since i'm in primary 1, Mummy has to plan our family trip during school holidays only. This is didi's 3rd oversea trip and we went to Australia again but this round to Melbourne with Ah kong and aunty. It took mummy sometime to plan this trip given the work commitment and have to spent time to draft out this selfdrive 9 days itinerary.
Upon arrival, daddy registered for a sim card while mummy went to collect the rented car. We got ourselves a Kia Carnival. It is a very spacious car which can fit 8 adults comfortably with 4 big luggage. Highly recommend this car for a family of above 5 pax.
Queen Victoria market
Breakfast at queen victoria market. Fish and chip! That's my favourite!
Mummy queued for the famous doughnut at queen victoria market.
Our hotel in Melbourne CBD, Novotel on Collins. The overnight parking for hotel guess is at AUD38 per night with multiple entry. Overall, the parking in Melbourne CBD is extremely expensive. Melbourne parking was rated as one of the most expensive city in the world.
St Paul catheral
Chilling up at Brunetti
Walking around Melbourne CBD on a chilling winter night.
Federation Sq
Day 2- Wake up early in the morning for breakfast at Hardware Societe. It was a 10 mins walk from Novotel on Collins.
After breakfast, we checked out from the hotel to begin with our Great Ocean Road Journey.
Wye General Store for lunch. The famous fish and chip was out of stock so we have to ordered their kid's fish and chip and burgers instead.
Koala hunting at Kennet River.
Cape Otway lighthouse. We were the last visitor for the day. It was dark at 5.30pm by the time we leave the lighthouse. It was a long and dark route to Port Campbell. We stayed at Southern Ocean Villa. It is a very nice and modern villa with 3 rooms which can accommodate up to 7 adults with huge living room and fully equipped kitchen.
Dinner at 12 rocks beach bar.
Day 3 Hayley had some pumpkin porridge for breakfast at the villa
Breakfast at Waves, Port Campbell
After breakfast we went for the 12 Apostle scenic helicopter ride. Hans was crying the whole 15 mins helicopter ride. The ride cost AUD 145 per pax (total AUD455 for the whole family given Hans is still an infant). We requested for a helicopter recording but due to technical issue, it was incomplete.
12 apostles view point. The weather was windy and drizzling. Mummy likes the breathtaking view of 12 apostle.
Lunch at Frying Nemo.
After lunch, we continued with our long journey via expressway to Yering (around 4 hours drive). We spent the next 3 nights at Yering Gorge, with wild kangaroos wandering around the properties. This 2 rooms villa is modern and nice.
Free provision from Yering Gorge
Fresh bread delivered to our villa every morning.
Complimentary wine and chocolate.
BBQ pit for our usage.
We had Thai food for dinner at Enthaiced, Lilydale. The restaurant was so crowded that we have to reserve and come back after our grocery shopping.
Mummy loves the curry as it was so appetising.
Next stop at Belgrave for lunch at Coffee Churros. That's the best Churros and hot chocolate we have ever tasted.
We then went to Belgrave Station for Puffing Billy rides. To our dismay, it was Queen's birthday (a public holiday), all the train tickets were sold out. Many like us went into the train station to take pictures.
Since, we were unable to hop on to the ride, we detour to Grant on Sherbrooke for wild parrots feeding. Their vanilla slice and scone are quite popular.
The scones are soft which is different from the normal scones that is hard.
Wild parrots feeding.
Parrots flying around whenever they heard the hawks coming.
